Hibernating, but still here!

Posted on the 23rd February 2021

It is winter in the Northern Hemisphere and, like the bears who make their home in Canada, Lattitude is in hibernation mode. What does this mean? Let us explain.

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact our world in many ways, and the travel industry has felt its effects more than most. While Lattitude is not a travel organisation, what impacts air travel providers, insurers, and government immigration policies directly affects our programming and what we are able to offer our amazing volunteers.

Over the last year, Lattitude has had to pivot and make a lot of difficult decisions. With widening travel restrictions over the last few months, Lattitude as an organisation and its dedicated team have moved into a dormant period for the first half of 2021. During this time, we will still be working but with reduced hours. We are putting some initiatives on hold while we wait out this storm, allow vaccines to roll out, and travel restrictions to lift.

Rest assured, even on reduced hours Lattitude will continue to provide the same support and expert advice our volunteers and host partners have come to expect from us. We are here to answer your questions and provide support to volunteers on placement. We look forward to the months ahead where we will begin to ramp up in anticipation for our July – September 2021 departures!
